Co-curricular & social development
NHS coordinates selected sports, creative, leadership and career-discovery activities for learners who would benefit from structured social interaction, teamwork, confidence-building and exposure to new interests.
You do not need to be enrolled at NHS Online School to register interest. Availability depends on age group, demand, location, schedule and confirmed specialist providers.
How it works
Activities under consideration
The programme is deliberately broader than sport alone. Families can express interest across movement, creativity, leadership and career-exploration activities.
Why families ask for this
Online and home-based learners can benefit from regular opportunities to collaborate, compete, create, perform and meet peers outside their usual academic setting. The aim is not to manufacture social activity, but to make worthwhile shared experiences easier for families to access.
External learners participate as guests of the relevant activity programme. This does not make them enrolled NHS students, and activity participation does not require a school transfer.
Where demand supports it, expressions of interest from different towns and counties also help NHS assess where future groups may be practical.
These expectations protect learners, families, NHS students, service providers and the quality of the activities. Please read them before submitting an expression of interest.
Learners are expected to treat other participants, families, staff, coaches and service providers with courtesy. Bullying, intimidation, discrimination and disruptive behaviour are not acceptable.
Learners must follow reasonable safety and supervision instructions from NHS staff, approved providers and venue personnel. Parents should provide accurate emergency and health information where an activity requires it.
Families must respect the privacy of NHS learners and other participants. Names, personal information, conversations, photographs or videos should not be shared publicly or on social media without the appropriate consent.
Communication concerning minors should use the parent, guardian or approved NHS/provider channels. Participants should avoid private or inappropriate contact that falls outside the activity arrangements.
Parents are responsible for punctual arrival and collection unless NHS has expressly confirmed transport arrangements. Repeated lateness may affect participation in time-sensitive activities.
Some activities are delivered by specialist third parties. Their reasonable safety, equipment, dress, age, conduct and venue rules apply alongside NHS expectations.
Charges vary by activity. Some fees are paid to the specialist service provider and some may be charged by NHS for coordination, administration, venue, supervision or other logistical requirements. Full charges and material cancellation terms are communicated before a place is confirmed.
Parents and learners are encouraged to raise safeguarding, conduct or service concerns promptly with NHS so that they can be handled appropriately and, where relevant, with the activity provider.
Expression of interest
This form helps NHS understand demand. It is not a booking and no payment is required at this stage.
